The National Council of Wool Selling Brokers of Australia today opened a wool broking industry historical display at the Sydney Wool Selling Centre in Yennora. The display celebrates the history of the wool broking industry in Australia and is a companion to the NCWSBA historical display in Melbourne.

NCWSBA President John Colley opened the display, saying “The Australian wool industry is an iconic part of Australia’s history and its economy. Wool broking companies have been a vital part of that history and the industry’s contribution to the Australian economy. The Board of NCWSBA wanted to preserve and present the rich historical material that is held by Australian wool broking companies and to present the historical significance of wool broking in Australia, its role in the Australian wool industry and developments in the industry over time.”

The theme of the new display in Sydney is “Selling the Clip – Preparing for Sale”. It presents material showing the developments in wool is prepared and presented for auction over the past 100 years and more.

“NCWSBA has been given tremendous support by our sponsors - AWTA Ltd, AWEX and AWH. I would like to thank these companies for their support for this project and the display. AWI also provided assistance in the early stages of the project. I would also like to thank our member companies which have loaned material for this display.”, Mr Colley concluded.

The National Council of Wool Selling Brokers of Australia was established in 1920 and celebrates its centenary in 2020, headlined by a Centenary wool Auction and Cocktail reception held in Melbourne on 20th February 2020.
